Magazine in Progress
I have chosen to change the genre for my magazine. I have thought about it and have come to the decision, I will be doing a rock magazine. The reason for this is because I think this will be a more easier and a lot more interesting than what I had previously had chosen which was techno.

Xmas Homework
1. The research I have done is on this magazine called KERRANG! because I read a lot about this magazine and hopefully I want to use this magazine, so it can give me tips on how to make my own one, seeing as my Magazine will be around Rock, Techno, Dubstep. The target audience for this magazine is Teenagers mainly in their late teens to early 20's.
2. The way in which this magazine stands out and what I would like to include in my magazine is a close up shot of the models that will be covering my magazine. It also includes dark color to represent the type of music the band makes distinguishing it from other types of rock. I will also need to include different Ear pieces to promote the magazine to make it stand out from its rivals.
3. The contents page is straightforward and not complicated in the sense that the reader does not understand what pages go to for that specific article. It has a picture at the top which attracts the reader because it has a picture of a famous band which intrigues anyone who picks it up from the supermarket, giving that person to go out and spend money to pay for this magazine. This is something I need to consider in doing my magazine by having a specific image in the contents page could be a selling point when making a magazine this is what i will have to think about when producing my own magazine.

4. The Double page exclusive instantly blows away the reader with Punchlines "4 awesome bands" etc. This is something I need to consider to do when making my own magazine, I need to add punchlines to attract and engage the reader. It also shows pictures relating to the article that could intrigue the reader, the picture shown is very engaging and intriguing, and makes the article seem even more interesting. This is something I will need to think when I make my own magazine.
5. This is my research for the type of magazine I hope to produce in the future, in order to attracta audiences I will need to add a lot of ear pieces and things that will allow my magazine to stand out from the rest, and this has given a much more better understanding of how to make a great magazine.

Tasks:
Research: 10/11th December to end of term
1. Collect some evidence of current music magazines: NME, Kerrang, Q

Improvements in Magazine
Last week I presented my School Magazine to my Sixth form colleagues and my teacher. I showed them my Magazine and what I initially tried to do, who my audience was and what research I did in order to do my magazine. I told them that i wanted to appeal to not just sixth formers but to lower end students as well, by having a picture of both a sixth former and a student in a lower year. I used a different type of color scheme i decided to go with blue and red text . They have a lot to say about my Magazine, some good and, some to improve on. The feedbacks i got from my peers were:
What was Good about It:
- They liked the the title, they thought the title was eye catching
- They liked the advertisement I had at the bottom, such as the Prince's trust etc,
- They thought the color scheme made it quite clear on what Harris this issue was about.
- They liked the mid shot picture of the two students.
Improvements
- They thought the text was a bit muddled up and that I should have put the text, where it doesn't cover the models face.
- They thought that I should have added a Barcode it will would have looked more like a magazine.
- They thought that I should have had something that indicates that this is from Harris Beckenham because it might confuse some readers especially Parents.
- They thought Text was a bit too big
From the comments I gathered from my colleagues, I now see that I will hopefully in the future use a barcode to make it clear to people that this is initially a magazine, as it would give a more professional look on my magazine. I will definitely reduce the text so tat it is not too big and it is not too small.
In order to make this happen I will need to read more magazine such as KERRANG!, NME and The Source etc. This will help me plan ahead since I have to make a music magazine for my coursework, I can research and brainstorm more ideas to put on my magazine. I will definitely take these comments and put them to my Magazine and this will hopefully make my skills improve in making a magazine.
